ARTIVVIS (Real-time TIme-varying Volume VISualisation) addresses the problem of real-time interactive visualisation of scientific data, namely volumetric datasets, which are ubiquitous in many application domains such as Medicine, Biology, Fluid Dynamics and Veterinary Science to name a few. Specifically, we deal with the problem of time-variant and multivariate volume data sets, which have become more readily available in recent years. Such data sets are difficult to deal with due to their computational complexity as well as the information overload that can arise from such visually challenging data. Our primary objective will be to develop techniques and future frameworks capable of effectively rendering complex time-varying data at interactive frame-rates on commodity display platforms. We address solutions derived from established niche areas at the GV2 group including real-time rendering, perception in graphics and visualisation, and graphics hardware.
